Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is a sacred time. It is a rite of passage and the initial acts of parenthood, and it all counts for you and baby! I’m here to guide your way and help you have an educated, empowered birth and postpartum experience.

I am a certified Birth Doula since 2011 and have attended multiple trainings with The Birth Sanctuary and CAPPA  and currently collaborate with About Families.  I am also a Certified Clinical Communications Lactation Specialist.

What is a Birth Doula?

A Birth Doula is someone who helps to educate and empower expectant parents to make the best choices for their birth and their baby. As your doula, I will meet with you before your birth to discuss how the pregnancy is going, address any questions you may have, help create written birth preferences, provide local resources for birth and breast/chest feeding classes, and any other resources needed. I provide phone, text, and email support throughout your pregnancy, and am “on call” for your birth from two weeks before your “due date” until two weeks after. I attend the birth itself and stay until nursing has been established. I’m also available for a postpartum visit to get current with you and provide support resources as needed. As a Birth Doula, I do not perform medical procedures,  nor am I a medical advocate for the parents, however I do help you advocate for yourself.

What is a Lactation Specialist?

A Lactation Specialist is someone who has taken a 95-hour comprehensive course and training and has passed an exam that certifies they are able to educate, consult and counsel others in breast/chest feeding. I am certified through The Breastfeeding Center Of Ann Arbor.
