Today was supposed to be Ian’s first day of Winter Break. Due to the flu, it’s his fifth, and he’s basically still in bed, which is why I had time to take pictures and blog! (Also my phone died so I’m actually using a real camera and reading books.)

We are so excited for Courtney and Alice to join us on Christmas Eve and hopefully Ian will have his energy back. I’m looking forward to cooking hard cider braised short ribs, two kinds of strata, cinnamon roll cake, and decorating the gingerbread and sugar cookies we baked with buttercream. I’m also serving my new favorite salad which has romaine, green onion, honey crisp apples, spiced pecans and cojita cheese with a dijon maple balsamic dressing. What’s on your holiday menu?
